For accurate temperature readings, we recommend using a thermocouple thermometer instead of an infrared thermometer, as the latter may not provide accurate readings due to varied emissivity settings. To prevent damage to tabletops, the reverse side of the heating mat has raised pads for better heat dissipation, but we still don't recommend prolonged use on surfaces like plywood, glass, plastic, or other materials not resistant to high temperatures.
